Doug Fogelson at The Salon Series

Through Summer: Doug Fogelson's bodies of work regard the natural world by manipulating fundamental aspects of photography: time, space, exposure, composition, color, tone. He does it in the most unorthodox of ways: spit, salt, leaves, spray paint and the occasional survival blanket are used to talk about not only how we relate to Nature, but how we define a photograph as well. The results are mysterious and beautiful with a rigorous serenity.

The Salon Series was inspired by the fashionable gatherings of 17th century as well as post-war Paris. Intellectuals, artists and social luminaries would gather to discuss topics of culture, politics and art. Motivated by the recession and our digital age, The Salon Series continues that creative legacy of exchanging ideas while providing artists with a venue to share and converse about their work. The result is a lively and engaging discussion about art, wine and more over a great meal with interesting people.

Each Salon seats up to forty people and includes a three-course, passed dinner with wine pairings followed by a forum led by the artist and moderated by John Coyle Steinbrunner. Dinners are held at The Bluebird on Sundays at 7pm.
